Teams - Mute Audio & Video/Multi-person chat

Tips!

#1: Make sure to mute your microphone on Teams and/or your cell phone if you are not speaking. Everyone in the meeting can hear your background noise!

#2: Your Teams camera is set to default on. If you are not wanting to share your live video on screen make sure to check that it is turned off.

You will be prompted with the screen you see below before you join a meeting. You can shut-off your camera and mute your microphone here:

To mute yourself and cancel sharing your live video while in a Teams meeting, roll you mouse down the Teams screen until this utility bar shows up, click on the camera and/or microphone as shown:

#3 Make sure to turn down or mute the volume on your computer if you are using Teams and calling into the meeting or there will be a lot of feedback (annoying echo). In fact, you should only use your cell phone and mute your computer or do not use your cell phone and unmute your computer.

Click on the volume icon on the bottom right of your computer screen

You can select to mute all volume or specific sources of volume. You can click on the volume icon to mute.

#1: How to start a multi-person chat in TeamsĀ 

Click on the small icon at the top of your chat bar that looks like a pencil

You will then see a screen appear where you can start typing names, they will auto populate with HS employees. Once you see the first contact, if you already have a conversation started with them you will see it populate. However, as you add additional the chat will disappear unless you already have a group chat with everyone you add.

Once you have everyone added to the chat simply start typing your message!

*To add someone to an existing chat, click the logo in the top right corner of your chat and type the name of the person you want to add.
