Teams - Citrix Teams Known Limitations

Information Services has implemented major improvements to the Citrix network. The improvements have made it possible for you to operate full time within your Citrix virtual desktop. This includes video conferencing! With that said, there are some limitations to be aware of when video conferencing with Citrix. These limitations are minor, however they may require that you still sometimes conduct video conferencing using Teams on your local laptop or PC. 


Below are the documented limitations that you will notice when video conferencing in your Citrix virtual desktop.

Video background effects are not supported

The option to blur your background or add background images is not available in Teams when used inside of Citrix. 

When doing screen sharing in multi-monitor setups, only the main monitor is shared.

When sharing your screen in Citrix, a red border will appear around your entire Citrix. If you have multiple displays only the main monitor is shared.

Gallery view - Active speaker only.

During a video call with more than two participants, only the active speaker will display.

Pop out chat (also known as multi-window chat or the new meeting experience) is not supported.

Opening multiple Teams chat windows for different conversations is not an option. All chats are available to interact within the single Teams window.

Give control and take control: Not supported during a desktop screen sharing or application sharing session.

The option to have another meeting participant take control of your mouse and keyboard input is not available.

In outgoing screen sharing, the mouse pointer is not captured

When you share your screen in Teams, other recipients will not be able to see your mouse pointer.

Only one video stream from an incoming camera or screen share. When screen sharing, the option to include system audio is not available.

If a video is shared in a video call, only the shared video is displayed and not that of the active speaker. Also, audio from the shared video cannot be shared.
